Rio Ferdinand reacts to reports Pep Guardiola won’t manage Man United

Rio Ferdinand is disappointed to hear Pep Guardiola is heading to Manchester City

Rio Ferdinand has expressed his dismay at reports Pep Guardiola will take over at Manchester City at the end of the season.

According to reports in the German media on Saturday evening, the Bayern Munich manager is set to leave the Bundesliga champions next summer after two-and-a-half seasons at the German club.

Guardiola is thought to have no shortage of potential suitors, including a number of Premier League clubs, with Chelsea, City and Manchester United touted as potential destinations for the Spaniard.

However, Guardiola was reported to have chosen City ahead of their city rivals as his next project during United’s 2-1 defeat by Norwich City at Old Trafford.

And former United centre-half Ferdinand took to Twitter to bemoan a terrible day for the 20-time English champions.

Guardiola has won back-to-back Bundesliga titles at Bayern.

The Spanish manager also masterminded Champions League final victories over Sir Alex Ferguson’s United in 2009 and 2011.
