Roberto Firmino reveals joy at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool move
Roberto Firmino could not hide his delight after Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager
Roberto Firmino has admitted that he was thrilled when he found out about Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as Liverpool manager.
The German coach was drafted in to replace Brendan Rodgers back at the start of October after the Reds opted to sack the Northern Irishman following a slow start to the season for the Merseyside outfit.
Klopp has had a positive impact following his arrival at Anfield and steered the Reds into the League Cup semi-finals with an impressive 6-1 thrashing of Southampton on Wednesday night.
Liverpool have also recorded impressive wins over the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks to leave them six points off the pace in the Premier League.
And Firmino has been delighted by the impact the former Borussia Dortmund coach has had since arriving at the club nearly two months ago.
Firmino is quoted as saying by The Telegraph: “I was really happy [when Klopp was appointed].
“I hadn’t really been playing up to that point and he knew me and I knew him. We get on well. He gets on with all the players. He has made a really good impression.

“He’s an excellent coach. He managed Dortmund and has won titles in the Bundesliga, which is very difficult.
“He has always been really competitive in the Champions League… he’s having an effect already. I think we can achieve things.”
Liverpool take on Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
