Stat shows Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil thrashing Chelsea star Eden Hazard

Mesut Ozil has 29 Premier League assists to his name - the same number as Eden Hazard...

Mesut Ozil continued his fine start to the season by notching up another two assists in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Monday night.

The Germany playmaker now has 15 Premier League assists to his name this term and has played an integral role in helping Arsenal mount a serious challenge for the top-flight title.

Monday’s win over the Citizens left Arsene Wenger’s men in second place in the table and just two points behind leaders Leicester City over Christmas.

And this new stat from OptaJoe shows that Ozil really is the king of the assists.

The 27-year-old has 29 career Premier League assists to his name – which is the same as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – but Ozil has reached the total playing 59 fewer games than the Belgium international.

Hazard has been struggling for form this season along with the rest of his Chelsea team-mates and missed last weekend’s win over Sunderland with a hip injury.

Ozil, meanwhile, will be expecting to feature when Arsenal return to Premier League action against Southampton on Boxing Day.
