Steven Gerrard: Why Liverpool are best team in the Premier League

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says the Reds can win the Premier League title this season

Steven Gerrard says Liverpool are the best team in the Premier League on current form.

The Reds have won their last two Premier League games after victories over leaders Manchester City and Garry Monk’s Swansea City.

If they keep everyone fit, they’ll be involved in the title race

Liverpool impressed with a 6-1 win against Southampton in the League Cup at St Mary’s on Wednesday night as the Reds set up a semi-final clash against Stoke City.

The Merseyside outfit have scored an incredible 13 times in their last four games in all competitions.

And former Liverpool captain Gerrard believes the Reds will be involved in this season’s title race if Klopp’s key players remain injury-free.

“I think it is very interesting,” Gerrard told RTE Radio.

“At the moment, the way they’re performing, they are the best team in the league. There is a long way to go. If they keep everyone fit, they’ll be involved in the title race.”

Liverpool make the trip to Steve McClaren’s struggling Newcastle United side in the Premier League at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

The 18-time English champions are in sixth place in the table and six points behind leaders City ahead of their trip to the Magpies tomorrow.
