Thierry Henry slams Chelsea's under-performing players at a Facebook event alongside Cesc Fabregas
Thierry Henry has slammed the Chelsea players after the defending champions slumped to their ninth Premier League defeat of the season on Monday night.
The west London side are a point above the relegation zone after a 2-1 loss to Claudio Ranieri’s surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City at King Power Stadium earlier this week.
I also think you can have a massive go at the players at the moment
Chelsea have lost four of their last six Premier League games and Jose Mourinho’s side already trail pace-setters Leicester by 20 points after just 16 top-flight games this season.
Speaking during a Q&A session at a Facebook event in London on Tuesday evening, Henry laid into the Chelsea players as he sat next to former Arsenal midfielder and current Blues star Cesc Fabregas.
“The doctor situation, Mourinho with the referees, I always try to defend players to an extent, but I am sorry with the quality in that team, whether you play 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or 4-5-1, how can you not beat Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and it’s no disrespect to any of those teams, at your place at the very least?” Henry is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“It seems like it’s difficult for them and yes, you can have a go at the boss, but I also think you can have a massive go at the players at the moment.”
Fabregas hasn’t started Chelsea’s last two Premier League games due to the midfielder’s poor form as the west London side suffered surprise defeats by promoted Bournemouth and early leaders Leicester.
