Tottenham legend: Aaron Ramsey back to his imperious best for Arsenal
Garth Crooks runs the rule over Arsenal's 'imperious' Aaron Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey was back to his imperious best in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, according to Garth Crooks.
The Gunners midfielder scored the north London side’s second goal at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon as Ramsey helped Arsene Wenger’s side claim top spot in the Premier League.
On this display, against an utterly outclassed Aston Villa, he looked imperious
Ramsey has netted in successive Premier League games against Sunderland and Villa following his return to action following the midfielder’s recent hamstring problem.
And former Tottenham Hotspur striker Crooks was impressed with the Wales international’s performance in the heart of Wenger’s midfield in their latest Premier League win.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “I find it quite interesting that Aaron Ramsey is starting to look at his best again without the presence of injured pair Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the Wales international features far more in Arsenal’s build-up play when they are not around. And on this display, against an utterly outclassed Aston Villa, he looked imperious.
“When both Sanchez and Cazorla come back into the fold it will be very interesting to see if he can retain the commanding presence he showed at Villa Park.”
Ramsey has scored three times and has made one assist in 12 Premier League games for the north London outfit this season.
The 24-year-old netted Arsenal’s second goal after Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock against Villa in Birmingham in Sunday’s early kick-off.
Arsenal host title rivals Manchester City at The Etihad in their next Premier League fixture next Monday.
