Van der Sar, Lineker and more: Twitter reacts as Bournemouth stun Man United
Edwin van der Sar and Gary Lineker both tweet their thoughts as Manchester United suffer a surprise 2-1 loss to Bournemouth
Manchester United slumped to surprise 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday evening to dent their Premier League title hopes.
Bournemouth took the lead in the second minute when David De Gea was beaten direct from a corner by Junior Stanislas.
Louis van Gaal’s men equalised when Marouane Fellaini bundled in from close range in the 24th minute.
The Red Devils struggled and despite enjoying 57 per cent of the possession, they fell behind again when Josh King steered in Matt Richie’s set-piece nine minutes after half-time.
The defeat heaped yet more misery on United after the humiliation of their Champions League exit at the hands of Wolfsburg on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils will drop into fifth place in the Premier League table if Tottenham beat Newcastle at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Bournemouth’s win inevitably prompted plenty of activity on social media after the final whistle – and here are some of our favourite post-match updates.

A Man United side getting outfought and outworked by what really is a Championship team. Very, very sad to see.
