Sturridge, Origi and more: Twitter reacts as Liverpool beat Sunderland 1-0
Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi both tweet their thoughts as Liverpool beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light
Liverpool ended 2015 with a victory as Christian Benteke’s second-half goal handed them a 1-0 win at Sunderland on Wednesday night.
After a goalless first half in which Roberto Firmino came close to netting an opener, Benteke slotted home from close range in the 46th minute after being found by Adam Lallana.
The Belgium striker spurned a fantastic one-on-one opportunity to make it 2-0 late on but Jurgen Klopp’s men held on to make it back to back victories in the top flight.
The result lifted the Reds up to seventh place in the Premier League table and level on points with Manchester United heading into the new year.
The Merseyside outfit will now turn their attentions to Saturday lunchtime’s top-flight trip to West Ham United.
Wednesday’s Premier League clash inevitably prompted plenty of activity on social media after the final whistle – and here are some of our favourite updates following Liverpool’s narrow victory.
