Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update after Wolfsburg loss
Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling both suffered muscular injuries during Manchester United's loss to Wolfsburg on Tuesday
Louis van Gaal has confirmed that both Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling suffered injuries during Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Wolfsburg on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils were dumped out of the Champions League after suffering a dramatic defeat in Germany despite taking the lead against the Bundesliga side.
Darmian was substituted on the stroke of half-time after picking up a hamstring injury, while Smalling picked up a groin strain but completed the game after United had made all three substitutions.
The pair are likely to miss United’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Saturday evening and are set to join the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ander Herrera on the Carrington treatment table.
Van Gaal also says Darmian has hamstring injury and Smalling groin strain. Wouldn't expect them to play this weekend.

However, Wolfsburg equalised within three minutes through Naldo’s volley and then took the lead themselves when Vieirinha finished a superb flowing team move.
The Red Devils drew level in the 82nd minute through Josuha Guilavogui’s own goal, but the home side replied moments later thanks to Naldo’s header in the 84th minute.
