Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney gets festive with his sons Kai and Klay
Wayne Rooney may be struggling for form this season, but the striker wasn’t letting his Manchester United woes affect his Christmas spirit on Wednesday.
England’s record goal-scorer is currently sidelined with an injury and the 30-year-old has missed United’s last three games in all competitions, including back-to-back defeats by Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Bournemouth.
Rooney has endured a season to forget so far amid suggestions from his critics that the former Everton striker is in decline after a disappointing return of two goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season.
However, the United skipper, who hasn’t scored since a 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on 3 November, took his mind of his footballing struggles as Rooney got into the Christmas spirit with his sons Kai and Klay on Tuesday afternoon.
Rooney wrote on his Instagram page: “Last day of school before Christmas for my little mates”
The United striker has only scored four times in 18 games in all competitions for the 20-time English champions so far this season.
