West Brom star blasts Liverpool’s ‘idiot’ Jurgen Klopp
James McClean accuses Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp of showing a lack of respect on Sunday
James McClean has branded Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as an idiot after the West Bromwich Albion midfielder accused the German of showing the Baggies a lack of respect.
The 48-year-old Reds boss refused to shake his contemporary Tony Pulis’s hand after a dramatic 2-2 draw with West Brom at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Divock Origi scored an equaliser in the fifth minute of added time to salvage a point after Liverpool lost Dejan Lovren to injury following Craig Gardner’s full-blooded challenge on the Croatia international.
And Republic of Ireland international McClean wasn’t impressed with Klopp’s antics during Sunday’s stalemate despite admitting that the German is a great manager on the back of his achievements at Dormtund.
“I have got a lot of respect for the man because he done a great job at [Borussia] Dortmund, but I think he is a bit of an idiot to be honest. On the game on Sunday you can’t act that way. Win, lose or draw you have got to be respectful,” McClean told BBC Sport.
Liverpool are in ninth place in the Premier League and five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United ahead of Sunday’s trip to Watford.
