Xabi Alonso reacts to talk of possible Liverpool return
Xabi Alonso refuses to rule out a possible transfer back to Liverpool in the future
Xabi Alonso has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Liverpool at some point in the future, despite insisting that he is happy at Bayern Munich.
The Spanish midfielder has long been linked with a sensational move back to Anfield after leaving the Merseyside outfit to join Real Madrid back in the summer of 2009.
Alonso scored 19 goals in more than 200 appearances for the Reds during his spell in the Premier League between 2004 and 2009 and helped Liverpool secure Champions League glory in 2005.
And although the 34-year-old says he is happy with his situation under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, the veteran midfielder has refused to rule out a possible switch back to England.
Asked about a possible future move to Liverpool, Alonso told Goal: “At the moment I am focused on the season and Bayern.
“I don’t know what is going to happen in [the] future but hopefully I will know soon.
“My family and I are feeling very comfortable in Munich and we are happy here.”
