AC Milan legend Cafu reacts to Jon Flanagan’s Liverpool comeback
Cafu sends a message to Liverpool defender after injury comeback
Cafu took to Twitter to send a message to his special Liverpool friend on Wednesday night after Jon Flanagan made his return from injury in the FA Cup.
The 23-year-old made his long-awaited comeback from a knee problem in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Exeter City in their third-round replay after he replaced Connor Randall in the 51st minute at Anfield.
Flanagan’s substitute appearance prompted the former AC Milan and Roma defender’s Twitter to go into overdrive given Cafu’s unlikely friendship with the Reds defender.
The pair met ahead of the Reds’s final game of the 2013/14 campaign after Flanagan had been nicknamed the Scouse Cafu following an impressive season in Brendan Rodgers’s side.
And the World Cup winner was delighted to see the England Under-21 international make his return to competitive action after a 619-day lay-off.
I have a thousand tweets! I guess it's the return of a friend to the field!!! @LFC
