Alexis Sanchez injury news: Arsene Wenger provides latest update on Arsenal star
Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez isn't likely to feature for Arsenal against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night
Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to feature against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Chile international missed the north London side’s hectic festive period due to a hamstring injury which he suffered during a 1-1 draw with Norwich City in November.
Sanchez was thought to be on the brink of a return to first-team action after stepping up his rehabilitation over the past week or so.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference on Monday morning, the Arsenal manager admitted that Sanchez won’t be recovered in time for the Anfield clash.
“It is too soon for Alexis Sanchez, maybe he will be fit for Sunday,” Wenger told the assembled media at London Colney.
Sanchez was left out of the Arsenal squad as the Gunners secured a 3-1 win over Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on Saturday to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Sanchez has scored six goals and has made one assist in 14 Premier League games so far this season.
Arsenal head into Wednesday’s trip to Merseyside two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
