Ander Herrera: Why I prefer Man United to play away from Old Trafford
Ander Herrera admits that he would rather Manchester United play away from Old Trafford in the FA Cup this season
Ander Herrera has admitted that he would rather play away from Old Trafford in the FA Cup to experience “incredible” atmospheres with his Manchester United team-mates.
The Red Devils host Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Cup at their home ground on Saturday as they look to book their place in the fourth round of the competition in front of their fans.
I’m hoping we get an away draw because I really enjoy those trips
Last season, Spanish midfielder Herrera scored on United’s first-ever trip to Yeovil Town, before playing in visits to Cambridge United and Preston North End.
And Herrera admits that he would love to get more of a taste of some of England’s other grounds in the competition this season.
Herrera told United’s website: “In this competition [the FA Cup], maybe I prefer to play away because when you visit lower-league teams, like we did last season, the atmosphere in their stadiums is incredible.
“I know we are lucky because we are playing at home in front of our fans this weekend, and I always love to play at Old Trafford.
“But if we beat Sheffield United, I’m hoping we get an away draw because I really enjoy those trips.
“It’s a very enjoyable competition and a nice one that we can hopefully win this season.”
The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes as United kicked off 2016 with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford last weekend.
Herrera has scored two goals and made two assists in 13 Premier League games so far this term.
