Andy Cole: Christian Benteke looks like different player at Liverpool
Andy Cole runs the rule over Christian Benteke's impact at Liverpool
Christian Benteke looks like a different player since joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to Andy Cole.
The Belgium international missed a flurry of chances in the Merseyside outfit’s 2-0 loss to West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Benteke scored the winner in Liverpool’s successive 1-0 victories over Leicester City and Sunderland before their setback at West Ham.
The 24-year-old has only started four Premier League games since Jurgen Klopp took over the reins at Anfield from Brendan Rodgers in October.
Former United striker Cole says Benteke looks like a different player since he joined Liverpool from Aston Villa in a £32.5m deal in the summer.
“They miss Sturridge massively,” Cole told Sky Sports.
“I’m not sure if Benteke has lost confidence but what he is at Aston Villa to what he is at Liverpool – it’s chalk and cheese.”
Michail Antonio gave West Ham an early lead in east London in Saturday’s early kick-off before former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll doubled the home side’s lead with a powerful header.
Liverpool are in eighth place and 12 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in the table.
