Andy Cole: Why I like Man United striker Anthony Martial
Andy Cole runs the rule over Manchester United striker Anthony Martial
Andy Cole says he is a big fan of Manchester United striker Anthony Martial.
The France international scored United’s opener against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon before the 20-year-old teed up captain Wayne Rooney’s for the winner in a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Martial is the Red Devils’s top goal-scorer in the Premier League this season after a return of five goals in 14 top-flight games following his summer move to United.
Former Red Devils striker Cole, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble-winning side in 1999, explained what he really likes about the £36m summer signing.
“I like him. He cost a lot of money,” Cole told Goals On Sunday.
“There is a lot of pressure on the young boy. But he has done very well. He will score goals. What I really like is that he glides past people. He has great pace.”
Martial became Europe’s most-expensive teenager when he completed a £36m transfer to the 20-time English champions from Ligue 1 Monaco on deadline day in September.
The France international has netted eight times in 24 appearances in all competitions for Louis van Gaal’s side following his big-money move.
United are in fifth place in the Premier League and nine points behind Arsenal.
