Andy Gray states his prediction for Liverpool v Arsenal
Andy Gray is backing Arsenal to underline their status as Premier League title favourites
Andy Gray has backed Arsenal to underline their Premier League title potential with a victory over Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The Gunners are two points ahead of second-placed Leicester City at the top of the Premier League ahead of their trip to Anfield.
This will be Arsenal showing everyone that they are capable of winning the league by beating Liverpool
Arsene Wenger’s side will be facing a Liverpool outfit ravaged by injury, forcing Jurgen Klopp to sign Steven Caulker on a season-long loan from Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday afternoon.
Former Aston Villa and Everton midfielder Gray expects the north London side to ease to victory over the Merseyside outfit and highlight why they’re now favourites for the Premier League title.
“This is always a great game and both sides were able to rest a few players over the weekend in the FA Cup, saving them for this massive game. I’m really looking forward to it,” Gray wrote on Paddy Power’s blog.
“Liverpool will be looking to try and get back to some sort of form, to get some sort of result that could everyone at the club some belief. The form book tells me Arsenal are the favourites at Anfield and I wouldn’t argue against that.
“I think this will be Arsenal showing everyone that they are capable of winning the league by beating Liverpool 2-1 with Olivier Giroud to get on the scoresheet.”
Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in their most-recent Premier League meeting with the north London side at Anfield in December 2014.
The Reds were memorable 5-1 winners against Wenger’s side on Merseyside in February 2014 which derailed Arsenal’s title bid and propelled Liverpool to a second-place finish.
