Arsenal bid £44.6m for Borussia Dortmund star, claims insider

Top Spanish reporter claims Arsenal have tabled an official bid to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal have tabled a club-record £44.6m bid to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window, according to a top Spanish journalist.

The Dortmund midfielder’s future has been a source of relentless speculation in recent days amid reports that Arsenal are keen on luring him to Emirates Stadium in the coming weeks.

Aubameyang further fuelled the speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal when he missed training earlier this week – although Dortmund were quick to explain that there was nothing unusual about his absence.

However, Spanish reporter Kike Marin, who was among the first journalists to report Arsenal’s deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona in the summer of 2014, has now claimed that the north London club have tabled an official big-money bid for Aubameyang.

Marin tweeted on Thursday morning:

Arsenal are thought to be on the lookout for reinforcements in the January transfer window following injuries to the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
