Arsenal legend Ian Wright hits back at Piers Morgan over Liverpool tweet
Ian Wright was not pleased about Piers Morgan's comments about the FA Cup on Twitter on Friday...
Ian Wright has hit back at Piers Morgan on Twitter after the Arsenal shareholder claimed that the FA Cup is not a “big trophy” any more.
Morgan took to the social network to claim that Liverpool’s selection of non-first-team regulars for Friday’s third-round clash at Exeter demonstrates how the competition has declined in stature.
Arsenal have won the FA Cup for the last two years running and kick off their pursuit of a third straight title when they host Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
However, Morgan, who has never been one to keep his views about Arsenal to himself on social media, caused a stir on Twitter and prompted a response from former Gunner Wright.
Morgan tweeted on Friday morning:
Liverpool's reserve team selection tonight shows just how far the FA Cup has fallen in stature. Sad but true. Not a big trophy any more.

Wright then replied to the former Daily Mirror editor:
You're saying that about the cup because Wenger's won it twice and you need amo for your Wenger bashing.LFC injuries https://t.co/WVDxkCzDbY

To which Morgan then responded with another update:
Not at all.
Just a (sad) fact that no big club fields their strongest team in it any more. https://t.co/q2jpTdJR8l
