Arsenal man admits he plans to leave The Emirates this month
Mathieu Debuchy admits that he is looking for a transfer away from Arsenal this month
Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed that he is seeking a transfer away from Arsenal this month.
The French defender has found his first-team opportunities at Emirates Stadium severely restricted this season after falling behind youngster Hector Bellerin in the north London club’s pecking order.
The 30-year-old right-back has only made two Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men so far this season and has been heavily linked with a transfer to Aston Villa in recent days.
Now, the player himself has confirmed that he is on the lookout for a move away from Arsenal as he bids to gain some regular playing time in the build-up to this summer’s European championships in France.
Debuchy told L’Equipe: It’s true, they [Villa] are among the teams interested in me. I am currently studying everything but it’s not a possibility I have excluded.
“Whatever happens, even if it is to return this summer and then start again, I have to go this winter. I cannot stay at Arsenal.”
