Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech picked a former Chelsea team-mate in his top three players for the 2015 Ballon d'Or
Petr Cech and Martin Skrtel were among the Premier League stars to have cast their votes for the 2015 Ballon d’Or award.
Lionel Messi won football’s most prestigious individual award for the fifth time on Monday night after the Argentina international beat off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to take home the trophy for the first time since 2012.
The prize is voted for by national team managers and captains, and selected journalists named on a list compiled by France Football and Fifa.
Arsenal goalkeeper and Czech Republic captain Cech chose Messi for the prize ahead of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard, who finished eighth in the voting.
Meanwhile, Liverpool defender and Slovakia captain Martin Skrtel picked Ronaldo ahead of Messi and Lewandowski.
Also afforded a vote due to his role as Serbia captain was Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, who picked Messi in front of his club-team-mate Hazard and Neymar.
France captain and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, meanwhile, placed Messi ahead of Ronaldo and Neymar.
