Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger predicts busy January window

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is tipping a lot of January deals

Arsene Wenger says he expects a very busy January transfer window in the Premier League.

The Gunners manager has already been linked with a host of potential targets this month, including Watford striker Troy Deeney and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubayameng.

According to Daily Star, the north London side are close to completing a deal to sign Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny after having ironed out a few complications with the proposed deal.

While Wenger didn’t comment on any incoming transfers at the Emirates Stadium in the coming weeks, the Arsenal manager explained why he is tipping plenty of January transfer window activity.

“I would say for the media you could have some good news – this January transfer window as I believe many clubs will be active,” Wenger told his pre-match media conference on Monday morning.

“You go from the clubs down in the table to the top. My prediction is that it could be one of the most active January windows you have seen.”

Arsenal are two points clear of second-placed Leicester City at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners make the long trip to Merseyside on Wednesday night to face rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
