Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he is looking to bring in two players to Arsenal during the January transfer window.

The north London side have been linked with a host of names in recent weeks as Wenger looks to bolster his squad to prepare his side for the second half of the season.

Arsenal head into the new year two points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a battling 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a bid to sign midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel in recent days, although Wenger remained coy when quizzed about that speculation after Arsenal’s win over Newcastle.

Now, the Arsenal boss has admitted that he is looking to bolster his squad in the next 10 days to add cover for the likes of injured midfield stars Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.

Wenger is quoted as saying by Metro: “I don’t give much away [about transfers] because I don’t know [what’s going on].

“I want to talk about them and hopefully we are capable of doing something in the next 10 days.

“It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever. Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.”
