Arsene Wenger assesses Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool v Arsenal
Arsene Wenger talks about Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ahead of Arsenal's trip to Anfield on Wednesday
Arsene Wenger has described Jurgen Klopp as a “great manager” as Arsenal gear up for their crunch Premier League clash at Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The German coach has endured a mixed start to life in the Premier League following his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield back in October.
I think he done very well in the job and he has an opportunity to integrate a big club
The Reds have failed to find consistent form and have only won five of their 12 Premier League games under the former Borussia Dortmund boss.
However, the Merseyside outfit have recorded impressive wins against the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks and Wenger is wary of the threat posed by Liverpool ahead of Wednesday’s clash.
“I think he is a great manager but we have different styles,” said Wenger, speaking at a news conference on Monday morning.
“You have to respect that and you can only be successful by [having] your own style and personality, and everybody has a different personality.
“But I think he done very well in the job and he has an opportunity to integrate a big club. That is where people will assess that later.
“You have to play with your style and what you believe is strong. He is a great manager and he will do that.
“We know that Liverpool will be absolutely up for it, we will be up for it.
“It is down to us to be very strong in the challenges to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
Arsenal head into the game two points clear at the top of the Premier League table and looking to continue their winning start to the year after victories over Newcastle and Sunderland.
