Arsene Wenger delivers update on Arsenal’s January transfer plans
Arsene Wenger says that he is open to the possibility of bolstering his Arsenal squad further this month
Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of bolstering his Arsenal squad with a player of “exceptional” quality before the close of the January transfer window.
The Gunners have already brought in midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel as Wenger moved to add cover for the likes of injured duo Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.

Arsenal have inevitably been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as the Frenchman considers making further recruits to boost the north London side’s hopes of winning their first Premier League title since 2004.
And although Wenger says that there is no official news to report on the transfer front ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash with Chelsea, the Gunners boss would not rule out the possibility of making further signings before the end of the month.
Speaking at his news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “You [the media] will certainly over the next 10 days have some work to do, not especially with Arsenal.
“We are always open to the exceptional cases.
“At the moment I expect our last ten days [of the transfer window] to be quiet.”
