Joey Barton and Gary Lineker take to Twitter after Liverpool edge to 1-0 victory over Stoke City in first leg of League Cup semi-final

Liverpool edged a step closer to the League Cup final after Jordon Ibe’s strike secured a 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the first leg of the last-four clash.

Liverpool suffered two injuries blows in the first half at the Britannia Stadium after Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren both suffered suspected hamstring injuries.

However, the Brazilian’s replacement Jordon Ibe made the breakthrough with a close-range effort after good work from Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, and the Reds held on to take a 1-0 lead back to Anfield ahead of the return leg.
