Bastian Schweinsteiger sends a birthday message to Matthias Ginter on Instagram amid reported interest from Manchester United
Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to wish reported Manchester United target Matthias Ginter a happy birthday after he turned 22 on Tuesday.
The Red Devils were reported to be keeping tabs on defender Ginter during the summer transfer window in 2014, with Arsenal also touted as a possible destination for the Germany international, according to various reports in the British media.
Ginter made headlines in the summer of 2014 when he was named as the youngest player in Germany’s squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
And Schweinsteiger – who joined United from Bayern Munich in the summer – was quick to send a message to Ginter on social media after he turned 22 this week.
The Manchester United midfielder shared the picture above of the duo on international duty on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Happy Birthday and the very best, @matzeginter28.”
Schweinsteiger will be hoping to be fit when Manchester United host Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday after he sat out Sunday’s 1-0 win at Liverpool due to injury.
The Red Devils head into the game in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
