Bryan Robson: Man United need to show more imagination
Bryan Robson runs rule over Manchester United's lack of flair
Bryan Robson says Manchester United need their players to show more imagination and flair.
The Red Devils were 1-0 winners against bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield in their most recent Premier League game last weekend.
While Louis van Gaal’s side have the best defensive home record in the Premier League after conceding four goals in 10 games, United have only netted 12 times at Old Trafford.
The club’s former captain, Robson, believes Van Gaal has plenty of flair players at his disposal, but says it is taking time for his attackers to improve after a difficult spell.
Robson told Sky Sports: “Sometimes you need attacking players with a bit of imagination and flair to actually produce that type of football.
“At the moment, we are just a little bit short of that. We are not far off. People like (Wayne) Rooney, (Anthony) Martial, (Memphis) Depay and (Juan) Mata – they have all got great ability, and it’s just about getting a little bit better.”
The 20-time English champions are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games.
The Red Devils are in fifth place in the Premier League table and nine points adrift of current leaders Arsenal.
United haven’t suffered a defeat in the Premier League since a 2-1 defeat by Stoke City.
