Charlie Nicholas makes prediction for Everton v Tottenham
Charlie Nicholas talks up Everton's chances of beating Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon
Charlie Nicholas says Everton could derail Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League title bid at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
The north London side are being talked up as potential title contenders in recent days after a 2-1 victory over 10-man Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday night.
I’m going to go for Everton though, if they get up a head of steam early on I think Tottenham may struggle
Everton, meanwhile, surrendered a winning position to lose 4-3 to Stoke City at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Monday afternoon.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas reckons Everton could provide an upset against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
“I can’t work Everton out. They were flying a few weeks ago and looked like top four was realistic but they’ve gone off the rails and are in a spin,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“They should have not thrown it away against Stoke when they went ahead. Spurs are going well but they are starting to talk up their own title ambitions and that could backfire.
“Top four would be a great achievement for Tottenham. I’m going to go for Everton though, if they get up a head of steam early on I think Tottenham may struggle.”
Tottenham have the best defensive record in the Premier League after conceding just 15 times in 19 top-flight games so far this season.
Everton, on the other hand, have already shipped 28 goals in their 19 Premier League games, with only six clubs conceding more goals than the Toffees.
Fourth-placed Tottenham are nine points ahead of 11th-placed Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
