Axel Witsel has taken to social media to wish Eden Hazard a happy birthday amid speculation linking the midfielder with a January transfer to Chelsea.
The west London side are said by the Daily Mail to have attempted to sign Witsel during the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise.
The same newspaper is now reporting that Chelsea are ready to battle with Tottenham Hotspur to secure the services of the 26-year-old, who appears set to leave Zenit Saint-Petersburg during the January transfer window.
And Witsel’s latest post on social media will only serve to fuel talk of a possible move to Stamford Bridge for the midfielder this month.
Witsel shared the photo above on his personal Instagram account of himself with Hazard, who turned 25 on Thursday, and wrote: “Joyeux anniversaire frero @hazardeden_10 best wishes #happybirthday #tbt #throwback”

Hazard is currently sidelined with a groin injury picked up during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.
