Danny Mills makes bold prediction about Chelsea’s season
Danny Mills is tipping Chelsea to enjoy a positive end to the season after a disastrous start to the campaign
Danny Mills has praised the impact Guus Hiddink has had since taking over at Chelsea and says the Blues are capable of finishing in the top four this season.
The west London side have shown signs of improvement since the Dutchman was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s successor last month.
The Blues endured a disastrous start to the season under Mourinho and their Premier League title defence was in tatters when the Portuguese coach was dismissed in December.
However, Chelsea have produced a series of improved performances in recent weeks following Hiddink’s arrival at the club as interim boss until the end of the season.
And former England international Mills feels that a European spot – and even Champions League qualification – remains in Chelsea’s reach if they can enjoy a positive end to what has been a disappointing campaign thus far.
Speaking exclusively to Sportlobster, Mills said: “I wasn’t an advocate of Mourinho’s departure but results and performances have definitely improved since Hiddink came in and I can definitely see them finishing in the top six come the end of the season.
“A top four finish would be an incredible managerial turnaround. Is it possible? Yes…
“Since then, Costa and Fabregas look like new players, there’s more energy, the team look happier and I don’t think it’s inconceivable that Chelsea could go the rest of the season only losing maybe one more game.
“If they do that it’s likely they’ll finish in a European place of some sort.”
Chelsea take on Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
