Don’t write Arsenal off in title race, says Chelsea legend

Pat Nevin says Arsenal can recover in Premier League title race

Arsenal shouldn’t be written off in the Premier League title race despite their recent blip, says Pat Nevin.

The Gunners extended their winless Premier League run to three games on Sunday evening after a 1-0 defeat by west London rivals Chelsea.

Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table and three points behind surprise leaders Leicester City following Sunday’s defeat.

However, former Chelsea midfielder Nevin believes the Gunners can recover lost ground in the title race given the unpredictable nature of this season’s Premier League.

Nevin told Newstalk: “I wouldn’t right off Arsenal now. They are a good side. You look around the league, it is the same for everyone. It is wide open.”

Arsenal haven’t won a Premier League game since 2 Janaury when Arsene Wenger’s side were 1-0 winners against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal make the trip to Southampton’s south coast rivals Bournemouth in their next away game on Sunday 7 February.
