Dortmund explain reasons behind Adnan Januzaj’s Man United return
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc explains why Adnan Januzaj returned to Manchester United prematurely
Adnan Januzaj’s loan move wasn’t a good deal for Borussia Dortmund or Manchester United, according to the German club’s sporting director.
The 20-time English champions opted to recall the Belgium international from his season-long loan at the Bundesliga club on Thursday afternoon.
The 20-year-old United starlet started just three games during his spell at Dortmund after struggling to get into Thomas Tuchel’s first-team.
Dortmund sporting director Zorc lifted the lid on why on the Belgian forward returned to Old Trafford before the end of his loan agreement.
“The loan wasn’t a good deal for both sides all in all,” Zorc is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
Januzaj didn’t start a game in the Bundesliga, although the 20-year-old made six appearances from the bench for Tuchel’s men.
The United man made three starts and racked up two substitute appearances in the Europa League this term.
