Ex-Man United midfielder: Why Tottenham can win Premier League title

Johnny Giles believes Tottenham Hotspur have as good a chance as anyone to win the Premier League title

Johnny Giles believes Tottenham Hotspur have as good a chance as anyone to win the Premier League title this season.

The north London side are in fourth place but just four points behind their north London rivals and Premier League leaders Arsenal after their 2-1 victory over 10-man Watford on Monday evening.

They’ve as good a chance as anyone else

Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham have only lost twice in the Premier League this season and Mauricio Pochettino’s side boast the best defensive record after conceding a mere 16 times in 19 games.

Former Leeds United and Manchester United midfielder Giles reckons Spurs can win the Premier League title if the north London side improve their consistency in the second half of the season.

“Well it could happen the way it is going,” Giles told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.

“They are on a consistent run. They’re in with a shout because of the way the season is going. They’ve as good a chance as anyone else.”

Spurs make the trip to Roberto Martinez’s Everton side at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in search of their fourth successive top-flight win.
