Forward claims he is close to signing for Arsenal
Austin Amutu says that he is not far away from completing a transfer to Arsenal in the future
Austin Amutu has claimed that he is not far away from completing a transfer to Arsenal.
The 22-year-old Nigerian forward has regularly spoken of his desire to move to Emirates Stadium and says that the north London side have been keeping a close eye on his progress in recent seasons.
The Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona man says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been monitoring his development and recommended him to Ligue 1 outfit Angers.
Now, Amutu has underlined his desire to secure a transfer to the north London club in the future.
Amutu is quoted as saying by AfricanFootball.com: “It has been my dream to play for Arsenal, they came for my while I was at Warri Wolves and I think it was money that truncated the whole thing.
“By now I should be playing for Arsenal or any team in England.
“I am happy that a coach like Wenger has interest in me for long, still keeps his eyes on me and has not lost interest.
“I believe I am not far away from my dream of playing for Arsenal. He recommended me to Angers. The French team watched me score in Toto Cup semi-finals.”
Arsenal, who finished third last season, kicked off 2016 with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium to move them two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Wenger’s men are now preparing to start their FA Cup title defence when they host Sunderland in the third round of the competition this weekend.
