Gabriel Paulista sends warning to Arsenal ahead of Chelsea clash
Gabriel Paulista says Arsenal cannot get carried away at the top of the table...
Gabriel Paulista has warned Arsenal not to get carried away by their position at the top of the Premier League table as they prepare for their crunch clash with Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners head into this weekend’s round of top-flight fixtures top of the table on goal difference from second-placed Leicester City as they bid to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
Gabriel joined Arsenal from Villarreal in January 2015 and helped Arsene Wenger’s men win their second successive FA Cup crown last season.
And although the Brazilian defender is thrilled to see the north London side leading the way in the top flight, he warned that the race for the trophy is likely to go down to the wire.
Speaking to Goal, Gabriel said: “We’re in a great moment in the competition, but there’s also other teams fighting for the title.
“It’s a very balanced tournament. Aside from us, we have two teams that are having good campaigns, such as Leicester and Manchester City, and there’s also other clubs who can fight for the title.”
Gunners defender Gabriel was sent off during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League back in September, but the red card was later rescinded.
