Harry Redknapp makes bold claim about Man United and Gareth Bale
The former Tottenham boss says Gareth Bale is a target for Manchester United during the January transfer window
Harry Redknapp has claimed that Gareth Bale could join Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have been linked with a number of Europe’s top players in recent days as Louis van Gaal looks to add firepower to his United squad ahead of the second half of the season.
I just get a feeling that somebody over here is driving that move
Real Madrid star Bale, who moved to the Spanish club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2015, has been touted as a possible transfer target for United in recent days.
Manchester United were thought to be keen on signing the Wales international two-and-a-half years ago before he eventually opted to move to the Bernabeu.
And former Tottenham Hotspur boss Redknapp feels that a move for Bale could be on the cards for United this month.
Redknapp wrote in his column for the London Evening Standard: “Gareth Bale leaving Real Madrid for Manchester United could happen.
“I just get a feeling that somebody over here is driving that move. It keeps coming up and it wouldn’t surprise me, given he’s never truly settled there and can’t speak the language very well.
“If he went to United this month, they would suddenly have a realistic chance of winning the title because he could go there and score 15 goals in the second half of the season. There aren’t many players in the world who can have that kind of impact but Gareth is one of them.
“I don’t know if he will come back but the United move makes a lot of sense, and all that talk has to be coming from somewhere.”
United, who beat Swansea City 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend, take on Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
