Gerry Francis runs the rule over reported Chelsea and Tottenham target
Gerry Francis says Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur striker Saido Berahino is a good goal-scorer
Gerry Francis has described Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur target Saido Berhaino as a “good goal-scorer”.
The Baggies striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window amid interest from two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Berahino was omitted from West Brom’s match-day squad to face Bristol City on Tuesday night due to an illness despite manager Tony Pulis declaring that the striker was up for sale at the weekend.
Former Spurs manager Francis is a fan of the England Under-21 international, although the 64-year-old stressed Berahino’s continued importance to Pulis’s Baggies side.
Francis told Sky Sports: “He is a good goal-scorer. He is a good player in and around the box. His record proves that. His performances last year were excellent.”
Berahino has scored three goals in 17 Premier League games so far this season, although nine of those appearances have come from the bench.
