Glenn Hoddle: Why Jurgen Klopp must keep Liverpool striker

Glenn Hoddle says Jurgen Klopp has to keep a talent like Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool

Glenn Hoddle has urged Jurgen Klopp to keep Daniel Sturridge despite the Liverpool striker’s injury problems.

The England international has played a mere 108 minutes of first-team football since Klopp took over from Brendan Rodgers in October.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a potential move to top-four chasing West Ham United in the January transfer window.

However, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Hoddle believes Liverpool manager Klopp would be foolish to sell his prized striker.

Hoddle told BT Sport: “Talent like that, you’ve got to keep him and hope he gets his body right.”

The former Chelsea and Manchester City striker scored a brilliant brace in a 6-1 League Cup win at Southampton at St Mary’s in December in a rare appearance under the Borussia Dortmund manager.

Sturridge moved to Liverpool in a £12m deal from defending Premier League champions Chelsea in January 2013 under Klopp’s predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.
