Graeme Le Saux: Why Branislav Ivanovic deserves Chelsea criticism
Graeme Le Saux runs the rule over Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic's poor season so far
Graeme Le Saux says vulnerable Branislav Ivanovic has deserved the criticism levelled at the Chelsea defender so far this season.
The Serbia international has struggled throughout the 2015/16 campaign alongside the rest of the Chelsea squad despite winning the Premier League title in May 2015.

According to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old is set to sign a new one-year deal at the defending Premier League champions, which will see the right-back stay at Stamford Bridge until 2017.
However, former Chelsea defender Le Saux believes Ivanovic’s lack of pace is a growing problem for the Serbian defender heading into the latter years of his career.
“It’s all fair in one sense because if the crowd decide that you’re not playing well or see something they don’t like about you then they make their mind up,” said Le Saux, speaking exclusively to 888poker.com.
“He’s had a poor season even by the rest of the team’s standards so he is very vulnerable in that position at right-back but he is not solely responsible. You need a bit of help against pacy wingers and if you don’t get that protection you can get exposed.”
“I saw him in the first game of the season against Swansea and Montero absolutely destroyed him. Ivanovic is hardly the quickest and he is alright once he gets going but he needs five or six yards. As a full-back that’s too late.”
Ivanovic has scored one goal and has made one assist in 18 Premier League games so far this season.
The Chelsea defender, 31, has won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
