Graeme Souness addresses Tottenham’s Premier League title challenge

Graeme Souness talks up Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur squad

Graeme Souness says Mauricio Pochettino has a very healthy-looking Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their title push.

The north London side set up a FA Cup fourth-round clash against Colchester United on Wednesday night after a 2-0 victory over Leicester City at King Power Stadium in their replay.

For the first time in a long time, they look like they’ve got a bit of resilience about them and can deal with adversity

Tottenham are flying high in the Premier League table after an emphatic 4-1 win against Sunderland in their most-recent top-flight game last weekend.

Spurs are in fourth place and a mere five points adrift of current Premier League leaders Arsenal with 16 games remaining in the 2015/16 season.

Former Tottenham midfielder Souness is impressed with Pochettino’s side, particularly the young Englishmen in the Spurs starting line-up.

“If you go back a year, Harry Kane ends up scoring 31 goals last year in all competitions,” Souness told Sky Sports.

“Pochettino, at that time, would have been feeling a bit of heat from upstairs. It is the young players that have got Spurs to where they are right now as potential Premier League winners. He has a very healthy group of players.

“For the first time in a long time, they look like they’ve got a bit of resilience about them and can deal with adversity.”

Tottenham have only lost three Premier League games so far this season.

Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat by Manchester United in the opening game of the Premier League weekend.

Pochettino’s men also suffered a 2-1 defeat by Newcastle United in December before a 1-0 loss to Leicester City earlier this month.
