Guillem Balague delivers transfer update on two reported Man United targets
Guillem Balague plays down the chances of Manchester United signing James Rodriguez or Ever Banega this month
Manchester United’s hopes of signing James Rodriguez and Ever Banega have been dashed by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with moves for a number of players in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal considers bolstering his squad during the January transfer window in a bid to reverse their ailing fortunes.
United are said to be keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Rodriguez as Van Gaal looks to add to his attacking options at Old Trafford.
It has also been reported that United are keen to push through a deal to sign Sevilla midfielder Banega this month.
However, Spanish football expert Balague has emphatically quashed suggestions that United could sign either of the pair during the January transfer window.
Asked about the reports linking Rodriguez and Banega to United, Balague told Sky Sports: “There is no chance of James going in January and Sevilla are saying they know nothing about Manchester United when it comes to Ever Banega.”
United slumped to their sixth Premier League loss of the season on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton at Old Trafford.
