Ian Wright reacts to Arsenal’s 3-3 draw at Liverpool
Ian Wright has his say after Arsenal are pegged back by Liverpool in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Anfield
Ian Wright could not hide his disappointment after “fantastic” performance from Arsenal as the Gunners were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Roberto Firmino gave the home side the lead at Anfield in the 10th minute after a bright start from the home side, but Arsenal fought back and equalised against the run of play when Aaron Ramsey fired home four minutes later.
Firmino then gave Liverpool the lead again with a superb curling effort in the 19th minute, only for Olivier Giroud to level from a corner in the 25th minute.
Giroud than put Arsenal ahead for the first time in the game when a superb turn and shot in the 55th minute.
But substitute Joe Allen fired home from close range in stoppage time to earn Jurgen Klopp’s men a point as snow started to fall at Anfield.
Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Wright said: “Credit to Liverpool, they kept it going and in the end substitute Joe Allen nicked the goal.
“Of course I’m very disappointed because I think it was a fantastic performance by Arsenal to come back like that but I think 3-3 is about right.”
He added: “To go behind at Liverpool like they did and not give up, stay in the game, get back in the game, and be winning the game, for me is very encouraging.”
