Ilkay Gundogan delivers transfer update amid Man United reports
Liverpool and Man United target Ilkay Gundogan delivers an update on his Borussia Dortmund future
Ilkay Gundogan says he hasn’t made a decision about his Borussia Dortmund future amid reports of a potential move to the Premier League.
The Germany international signed a contract extension at the Bundesliga club which ensured the midfielder would remain at Westfalenstadion until 2017.
However, the 25-year-old continues to be linked with Liverpool and Manchester United in the January transfer window despite his summer deal.
And Gundogan has fuelled speculation by admitting that he is unsure where his long-term future lies, although he did hint that a new Dortmund deal could be on the cards.
“No decision has been taken yet and of course everything has to be thought through because the length of one’s career is limited,” Gundogan told BILD.
“To be honest everything is still open,” Gundogan added, “I think it will go into that direction. When I sign, it will most likely not be for just a year.”
Gundogan has made one assist in 17 Bundesliga appearances so far for Dortmund this season.
The Germany midfielder made his debut for Dortmund in 2011 under the guidance of current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The playmaker was part of Dortmund’s Bundesliga-winning squad in 2012 and finished as a Champions League runner-up at Wembley in 2013.
