Jamie Carragher predicts where Arsenal, Tottenham will finish this season
Jamie Carragher feels that Arsenal and Manchester City are the two favourites for the title ahead of outsiders Tottenham
Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham Hotspur remain outsiders for the Premier League title behind main contenders Arsenal and Manchester City.
Spurs battled back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at Everton on Sunday afternoon to leave the north London side in fourth place in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Arsenal.
I think Spurs will be in the top four
Manchester City, meanwhile, also underlined their title credentials by coming from a goal down to earn a 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday evening to leave the Citizens third in the table and three points behind Arsenal.
Leicester City remain in second spot and two points behind Arsene Wenger’s pace-setters.
Carragher has been impressed by what he has seen from Spurs this season, and although he feels that the Lilywhites are well on course for a top-four finish, he feels that they are just slightly behind City and Arsenal in the race for the title.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s game, Carragher said: “I think Arsenal and Man City will battle it out and I think they [Spurs] have an outside chance.
“They dropped two points and they’re six points now behind Arsenal, which is a decent gap halfway through the season.
“But it’s more the performance today, what I saw from Spurs, that would give me great hope if I was a Spurs fan that they can be part of the race.”
The former Liverpool defender continued: “I think they’ll be in the top four. They’ve got a top manager and a top group of players.
“They very rarely lose – they’ve only lost two games. They’re very consistent and solid at the back so I’d certainly say they’ll be in the top four and [have] an outside chance at the title.”
