Jamie Carragher: Why thought of Liverpool v Everton final makes me feel sick
Jamie Carragher says he has mixed emotions about the prospect of an all-Merseyside League Cup final
Jamie Carragher has explained why he has mixed emotions about the prospect of an all-Merseyside League Cup final after Everton edged to a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the first leg of their last-four clash.
The Toffees had two goals disallowed for offside at Goodison Park on Wednesday night before Funes Mori broke the deadlock from close range in the first half.
However, Spain international Jesus Navas levelled the first-leg tie in the 76th minute after the winger finished a sweeping counter-attacking move from the away side.
But Roberto Martinez’s side reclaimed the lead just 180 seconds later after Romelu Lukaku headed their winner, although the striker suffered an injury as a result of his goal.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher is hesitant about the prospect of an all-Merseyside League Cup final after the Reds were 1-0 winners at Stoke City on Tuesday night.
Only half time but great result & 2nd half performance from EFC. Still a lot to play for but the thought of a LFC/EFC final making me sick!
