Jamie Carragher makes prediction about Chelsea’s season

Jamie Carragher says Chelsea have no chance of a top-four finish

Jamie Carragher says Chelsea won’t finish in the Premier League’s top four despite Sunday’s 1-0 win at Arsenal.

The Blues extended their unbeaten Premier League run against the Gunners thanks to Diego Costa’s first-half winner at the Emirates Stadium.

Top four is too far way in terms of the points difference and quality of football they’re playing

Arsenal were reduced to 10 men after Per Mertesacker was sent off for a foul on Costa minutes before the Chelsea striker’s opener.

Guus Hiddink’s improving Blues side are 14 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League

Speaking on Sky Sports following the defending champions’s 1-0 win, Carragher poured cold water on talk of Chelsea mounting an unlikely top-four challenge.

“Not from what I’ve seen this season. They won’t get top four. There is too much of a gap,” Carragher said.

Carragher continued: “It is too far. Those teams at the top of the table are in much better form. They were unbeaten but not an unbeaten that they were delighted with the performances and results that they were getting.

“It was the first big result under the new manager. Top four is too far way in terms of the points difference and quality of football they’re playing.”

Chelsea are in 13th place and seven points above the relegation zone after their 1-0 win against bitter rivals Arsenal.
