Jamie Carragher makes prediction about Liverpool’s January transfer plans
Jamie Carragher admits that Liverpool are in need of defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window
Jamie Carragher is expecting Liverpool to look to bring in some defensive cover during the January transfer window after the Reds lost two more players to injury on Tuesday night.
Both Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren suffered hamstring injuries as Liverpool recorded a 1-0 win over Stoke City to take a step closer towards the League Cup final.
The pair have joined a number of key Liverpool players on the sidelines, including the likes of Martin Skrtel and Jordan Henderson.
Attentions will now inevitably turn to whether Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will look to bring in reinforcements during the current transfer window.
And although former Liverpool defender Carragher is expecting the Reds to be considering making signings, he feels that they should not rush into the market just for the sake of it.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ, Carragher said: “There will be people coming in because of the injuries that the club have at the moment – the squad’s not deep enough.
“But I don’t think as a manager or a club you want to buy someone now in a panic and maybe regret it for next season.
“If they can get the right the player they want now, get him – if not, bide your time and wait for the summer.”
Liverpool travel to Exeter in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
