Jamie Redknapp is a big fan of Tottenham starlet Dele Alli...
Jamie Redknapp has compared Tottenham youngster Dele Alli to Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard following his sparkling displays for Spurs this season.
The teenager has earned plenty of new admirers this term and further enhanced his blossoming reputation with a brilliant finish to earn Tottenham a point in the 1-1 draw at Everton on Sunday afternoon.
Alli is the closest I’ve seen to a young Steven Gerrard
Alli, who played 83 minutes at Goodison Park, has scored five goals and made three assists in 18 Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season to help his side up to fourth place in the table and six points behind leaders Arsenal heading into the new year.
And former Spurs and Liverpool man Redknapp has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from the England international in recent weeks.
Redknapp wrote in his column for the Daily Mail: “I’m a big Ross Barkley fan but, if I had to pick a team for Euro 2016 tomorrow, Dele Alli would shade it for me. When I watch him I don’t see potential, I see a player.
“Alli is the closest I’ve seen to a young Steven Gerrard. He has everything.
“He’s a fantastic athlete and moves from end to end effortlessly. But he has all the subtlety and guile to go with it.”
Tottenham’s next Premier League tame is a home clash with high-flying Leicester City on Wednesday 13 January.
